Natural Suburbia is the blog of Linda Dawkins, a homesteader and knitting pattern designer in South Africa. Her blog is about the simplicity of daily life with a focus on the family rhythms of homesteading and a well-known library of free and premium knitting patterns (sold through her Mamma4earth shop on Etsy).
After some research, Linda chose Dreamhost for her hosting company. For her layout, Linda chose Canvas by Woo Themes because of its simplicity and ease of styling, even for those with limited design experience. Linda has thousands of links pointing to her blog from all over the web, so it was critical to her that all links would forward seamlessly from her old home on Blogger. With a few tweaks and some Javascript magic, we were able to give her readers a smooth workaround to the roadblocks put in place by Blogger. She now has all her posts, all her comments, and all her images in her shiny, new WordPress blog.
If you’re the crafty type, you should check out Linda’s weekly “Creative Friday” feature and submit your project for the link party. Linda is warm and hospitable, and she’s creating a unique crafting community at Natural Suburbia.
Welcome home, Linda!

Hi! I have followed Linda’s blog for a long time and I was so happy to see her new look! And of course as a wordpress blogger, welcomed her warmly to wordpress. In fact I found you from Linda and now I’m your follower, too.
I’m happy with wordpress but have been thinking for a while to change the theme or start to pay to get more choises for the Mistylook, which I still like for many reasons. Unfortunately for the moment I can’t spend much money for my blog. Other wise I would immidiately ask your help. You have done wonderful job with Linda’s blog! Finnish wishes from Greece! x Teje
Hi Teje, so glad you stopped by! I’ve been reading Linda’s blog for a few years and was thrilled when she contacted me to move to WordPress. I’m a homeschooling mom and have always loved being part of the crafting community by reading blogs like Linda’s. I hope you find some great information here; I’m just starting the blog portion of what I do, so feel free to drop me a line if you think of questions that might help you or other bloggers!
